Belgrade

The Serbian capital, a city of over two million people, lies on the confluence of the Sava River and the Danube, dominating the Panonnian plain to its north. Thanks to its position it has, since ancient times, been a vital crossroads between the Orient and the Occident, the North and the South. Today it is also the hub of road and rail networks in the country. The city has a continental climate marked by harsh winters and very hot summers, with barely discernible springs and falls. The best times to visit are April and May when the whole city seems to celebrate the end of winter, or September- which here looks more like a summer than an autumn one.

Belgrade has many interesting sights including a magnificant fortress that rises above the confluence of the two rivers, Serbia’s major museums, royal palaces and many other historical monuments, however, the city’s greatest attraction is its spirit: lively crowds, street bars always filled with the both young and old alike and a sparkling nightlife.
